Hi I have been looking at Walkinshaw steering wheels to put mine back to original, but I have noticed on the bottom spoke of some Walkinshaw momo's has 3 horizontal lines.( Craig's #369 does) yet others don't, do I need my eyes checked? Or is it something to do with the built dates? As they are so expensive I don't want to invest in the wrong one!!!!!!!!!!

369 has heaps of different things to most others, so not a good example to go off when returning yours to factory

Nope, all walkys should have these lines on the steering wheels.

Sometimes the wheels are stolen or taken off and new owners find close matches, but the walky has the 3 lines on the wheel. VL HDT Group A doesn't.

I think Craig is spot on.

My 2c worth-

Mine has the lines Aug/Sept build, but from memory I think some car magazines from the early car comparisons had wheels without the lines so this probably doesnt help the confusion either- maybe very early builds had these wheels, but I thought they all should have the lines but some may have replacement wheels that look very similar.???

See if I can find the old pics.

PS - Also apart from the VL HDT Grp A they may have been on the VL Grp 3's with a different centre cover.

These are the only wheels for a VL HSV.
The same outer rim with the smooth bottom spoke and different centre pads was used for a couple of HDT models.

Found the pic with a different steering wheel. The few magazine articles I could find all had the correct wheel with the lines, but on page 54 of the Book - HSV 1988-1991 A complete guide to Holden Special Vehicles - it has a completely different wheel.

It actually looks like one I optioned on a new car I bought in late 1989 - they were HSV Sports options back then - shown on page 206 in the same book.

Strange really, obviously the wheel was changed later in that particular car.

That wheel you refer to on page 54 is an SV5000 wheel and was also used on a few other HSV models.
