Hello there , Ive known this site for few years or so now and just recently I have decided to join the forums. As I think its a new feature to the site which is a real good idea. Iam like the rest of you WALKY MAD. Haha. No one understands how much we like these cars but US. You either love or hate them. I think.
Heres a little story...
When the VL Walkinshaws came out my father was rang by a mate and said 'Have you seen these Walkinshaw things that are comming out we have to get one' My dad seemed excited about them. They could only see them by the brochures not in real life. And my dad brought TWO of them. One to drive and one to sit.
I think he brought them as abit of an investment. At the time they werent very popular and I think people thought they were ridiculous looking. And it didnt help they lost the bathurst the year they came out. Lets face it they werent really popular then.... They struggled to sell them towards the end.. And plus people were hanging out to see what the VN GRP 'A' had to offer.
He used them as wedding cars for awhile. Keeping them for a few years and sold them back to the dealers at quiet a loss. Leaving him disapointed.
I have a few old photos from when they were knew. Including me and my brother infront of it. I should be able to get them posted up later on. When I can get them scanned. If your interested.
I myself would love to own a 'Walkinshaw' but being only 19 and not making alot of money. Would be very hard. I can only hope for the future and hope the price's dont sky rocket to something ridculous. But for now I have my ole blue VH SLE 253 . Which I like alot.
