Missing build tags, and engine isn't a walky!

Aesthetically the car looks quite nice, and from a performance perspective she would be sweet too. I guess to the purist its a shame as it can never be an original walky anymore - but its still a nice bit of gear.

It would be a good car for someone who wanted a Walky that they could continue modifying and never really wanted to sell it. I think too many people these days are buying this type of car for the future resale price, not for the love of the car
But in saying that, it would need to be pretty cheap for me to buy a Walky without tags!

Yeah thats my point exactly man, I'd love to own it, but I know i couldnt refer to it as a Walky. I'd be happy modifying that car, couldnt do it to a matching tag factory car.

it's not a bad price with that sort of gear in it.

That is true, but if it is a real one, it's a waste really, but what can ya do?
A lot of car there for the money...a 383 Harrop Stroker too...that will be a top drive!:)
I think it's worth $30K...can't build it for the that.
Look in america at the moment. As genuine collector cars become unreachable by most people. You then start to see a lot more replicas built to high standards. And now they too are climbing in value. I think in the future a replica of any desirable model will not be frowned upon becouse its the only way for people to get a taste of the market. But they will never be worth as much as the original.

Speaking of original cars that are no longer original cars... how much would 'HSV SS' be worth these days? Less than a factory standard one or more??
Would have to be less mate, that car seems way too far gone. I wouldn't pay the difference btw that car and say yours. Other than the fact that I think your EVLHSV looks better, you prob wouldn't be asking as much as the HSV SS which basically no longer resembles an original car.
Looks nice,i wouldnt buy it without tags or walky motor.Id give him $15g and thats it.

I have been told that a deposit has been taken on this car... $31k was the price.

but this time he added the following crap:
"here she is vl group a walky genuine car but stolen and recovered years ago.has dirty old vl sl I.D PLATES"
how can a stolen/recovered walkie end up with vl sl plates??
it is obviously a standard vl sl that has had all parts from a stolen walkie put into/onto it.

I'd pay $25k any day. It's a mean car, but resale would be a pain in the ass

Went and spoke to Bretto this morning and car has been sold this time, went for $32k.
I went to have a closer look for a guy in Ipswich, the car still has the colour coded "J" prefvix plate above the compliance plate. Guy was told by HSV if the car still had this plate on, there was a possibility of them re-issuing it with new build plates, as this number proves it is a genuine walky,
you can still see the drill holes were the build plate was removed, and you can tell by the rivet heads that the compliance plates were not put on there from the factory.
It is easy to see how it happened, imagine a car thief steals a Walky, all they have to do is by a SL VL legitimately and swap the plates. Same with block, when some blocks are decked, the numbers are removed, all they need to do is re-stamp it with a non-stolen engine number.

Bit of an update, incase you guys care:D
This car was purchased by a guy i know for 32K and has been varified as a genuine Walkinshaw.
He chased up HSV for verification and got it as the "J" prefix plate was still on it. Hsv told him they could re-issue the plates and so he ordered them. A few days ago it went into the local Holden dealer and had its brand new SV plates, and glove box plaque, fitted.
Should be worth a bit more now;)

That's great news!

That really surprises me, I though HSV would've been relectant to reissue build plates, especially to a previously stolen vehicle. It could mean that there are 2 walkinshaws floating around with the same build number? Do you know what the build number is and do the plates look like originals.
Thats scarey stuff!

The firewall plate won't be the same as the original walky one. It will say HSV - Very Special Vehicles.
The orginal walky ones just said SV on them.
As for the glovebox one, I've never heard of those being re-issued. Would love to see what it looks like?

So HSV will reissue build plates, seems dodgey!

Only one would be original and with the value of these cars increasing you would be a fool not to check verification ("J" plate etc).
Dont see anything wrong with it, if you have the genuine walky. Havent seen the plates on it yet, but will let you know how they look.
P.S. I have a mate up north that has 4 genuine blank SV Walkinshaw build plates.

I'm with you DaRiO,
Some loser has stolen an original walkinshaw and put the parts onto the sl. What was the build number then???? If it was original..
