i rarely drive my walky anymore (maybe 5 times last rego)and i was thinking about not re registering it. do you think this would affect the value of the car?

I would keep it registered. Cars need to be driven once in a while to stay fresh. If you don't drive it for long periods at a time you may end up having to replace parts with non genuine parts to get it running again
Mine runs out of rego in 2 days. I will let it run out and change my insurance to laid up insurance which should halve the cost. Since its for sale i dont really want to risk damaging it so she,s parked for now.
that was another reason to let the rego go,laid up insurance will be a lot cheaper and i am always worried when i do drive it,

If your going to do that you might as well sell it and put the money into something that will make more money
It's sad that these cars are getting too expensive and rare to be driven

I don't think rego would hurt the value either way, but wouldn't you rather drive the car and get some enjoyment out of it even if it is only five times a year? I don't drive mine much more than that but when I do it's something I look forward to and enjoy. Isn't that why we own these cars?

Absolutely.
I don't drive mine much, 7 or so times a year, but the experience of driving it when I do is awesome. I'm lucky that, umm, I'm able to have it as a car that I don't need to drive on a daily basis...if at all. But I'm certainly never going to put it to pasture and not drive it. That's the only good thing, plus security, that having it stored does...cause if was in the garage I'd probably drive it most nights.

I agree, I think most people with original walkies nowadays are driving them less and less, thats the reason I joined the forum. We need to tee up dates for get togethers etc, nothing better than getting them out for a cruise!

I also don't drive mine much, but I bought it to drive and enjoy and it has always been my dream car. Get such a buzz from driving it every time i take it out of the shed. Never could park it up and not drive it. And once it's tuned properly i'm aiming for a low 12sec or even a high 11sec pass at the motorplex. Still a few bugs to work out.

It'd be nuts for sure to have a Walki that did an 11 sec pass, but it doesn't worry me in the slightest, they way my car is. It's more than speed for me, it's for the car itself, I don't think it matters how fast it does the quarter mile in to be honest.

Even if it doesn't do it i'm extremly happy with what i've got. Just love to drive it
i have not handed in the plates so i have 3 months(before it needs a blue slip)to see if i miss driving it or not.
I purchased my car to drive but as the values of walkies started to climb i became paranoid about theft and accidents. Also now that its just below 10,000 klm i really dont want to cross that barrier. Its a shame that all i do now is look at it.I would love to have one with over 100,000 klm so you could just drive it and not care about klms.
PS. I guess if anyone wants to make a offer for my plates i might sell them.

All good reasons for driving and not driving. Personal choice really.
I want to use it, so I make a point of driving mine every Friday to work and on the weekends when I can.
I don't go anywhere it needs to be left unattended so to speak. Obviously try and be as carefull as I can with accidents etc but the front does collect a few stone chips. The way I look at it that's the price to drive and have fun. I will just get the front bar painted every so often. Probably only chalked up about 3000kms over 6 months, but some of that was during winter so doesn't come out as often.

ive read what everyone has said and i agree personal choice is what matters.ive just spent 2/5 years getting my walky to what it is 2day and ill drive it every weekend because thats what the car is there for not to sit in the garage and rot away.
