Seems like anyone wanting a walky is spoilt for choice at the moment with 3 on muscle car stables and one on ebay. Any opinions on what this might do to prices with so much to choose from or are there enough potential buyers out there for prices to keep going up?

Re the one off ebay, from this motor bay shot, isn't there normally a loom which runs along the top of the tags?

Funny, i only ever hear that from people who dont own one:rolleyes:
Supose you feel the same way about people who make money on real estate.

I would say that it's due to the recent sales of walkys, and people are thinking they can get the same or more for theirs. Combined with interest rates going up, fuel increasing and people with commitments (families etc) then you will see more of them for sale.

It's a cycle, it will go up and down and then steady and then off up and down again. Then people will say, gee walkys have dropped in price, and owners won't sell them, then they will go up in price again.

Like everything, it's about supply and demand.

Exactly, consumer driven, pure and simple;)
Dont think there is a shortage of buyers at the moment

hi there to all and i hope i can add some input to your comments as such. the walkies have pretty much been a slow mover as far as a solid investment ever since hsv announced in their wisdom back in the early build days that because many of the first batch of 500 cars were pre-sold to investors and a lot of deposits taken(mine for one) hsv decided to push out another 250 into the market!!! BAD MOVE>> this almost destroyed any collectors thoughts of even putting one of these gems away in moth balls as there was now a flood in the market place with almost 26% of deposit givers pulling out when they heard HSV plans to make the extra 250 cars... The good examples or should i say genuine, untouched, verified, low km versions will always bring good returns but now with the sad demise of australias leading touring car ace,,,, suddenly HOLDEN investors moreso have finally appreciated the fact these cars together with all brocks etc, not just walkies are no longer going to be built in this special build format as one offs...Investors and alike have just woken to this fact that these cars r true aussie collector pieces of art so to speak thus reflecting the prices over the last 18mths or so. gee i have recently been offered just over the $100,000 for my walky by the insurance company i am with ( in writing i may add) but its not for sale. 3 years ago i almost sold my walky to a guy in sydney for $28,500.!!!! there is a different market of buyers out there now as mr and mrs average cannot afford these types of cars anyway. these buyers are mostly investors with no intention of even driving their purchase.the market will fluctuate for sure as it does with everything but rest assured you will not see the day when these cars come back to their pricing to what they were 3 or 4 years ago...or even less than that.i do agree though people that may say things like: oh they are not worth that sort of money..... usually means they cant afford one, wished they had one, or both...lol. cheers david

This stuff about HSV building an extra 250 cars is crap. The original brochure printed in Feb of 88 which is before the official release of the car clearly states that 750 cars would be built. It is true that the first 500 were to meet homologation purposes and then the rest after wards were not needed to comply but quite simply they could have built many thousands of them if they had wanted just like Nissan did with the GTR which was also an international Group A homologated car.

Its true. Prices MAY drop a bit when fuel, inflation, interest rates all bite but i wouldnt hold your breath. i remember people saying the same thing a year ago when they where hitting$60,000. They are still way undervalued compared to other holden collectibles. But tell me. Are people out there going to jump in and buy one when doom and gloom hits the streets and prices stall. most people will not for the same reasons that i mentioned above. In uncertain times you will become cautious. But if you look longer ahead you will not lose. There will be a day that these cars will be worth 5-10 times what they are now. Infact next value surge will brobably put them up where phase threes are at the moment.I will be kicking myself for selling mine i know that.So basically if you love walkies and are in a position to buy and intend on holding on to it for a long time. You cant go wrong.
PS. just washed mine today and took it for a quick run. Helped me remember why i bought it. F@#K they are a tough car

corsa.....yes thanku for that u r exactly right!! but like myself and many other very keen investors of this very exiting upcoming from hsv we put our money upfront as a way of a deposit long before the said brochure was even released so many of us were well unaware of the 750 build number as i was even told by by own holden dealer at that time (approx august 87) that 500 initial cars were to be built. I placed a $1500 non refundable deposit at that time for my walky believing that.

The last of the Walkys didn't sell well because people got wind of the release of the VN Group A... that's when dealers started adding things like Calais head lights to make them more attractive
