View Full Version : Walkinshaw body kit
Hey there,
I am looking at replacing a few kit peices on my Walky as time and use has seen them a little ruff. Was hoping to get some opinions on who provides really good kits these days (moulded as close to original as possible)? and if anyone has any original bits they would like to possibly sell.
Appreciate your replies.
interested in this post too.
ive found that fibremaster do the full kit for $2500ish, but not sure of the quality.
ssv do it for around $3000
spoilershop is $5000
not sure on the quality of any of them tho, hance why i havnt bought my kit yet. and yeah they all sell individual components too.

There is a HUGE difference between genuine original walky kit parts, and aftermarket.
The aftermarket bonnet scoop I had was a POS... very thin, none of the reinforcing on the inside that goes around the twin throtts etc..
Same with a door mould... was very weak and flimsy, were as the original one was much thicker and didn't bend at all.
Petro, no reason you can't get the pieces taken off your walky, repaired, painted and put back on? Which pieces are they? Any good fibreglasser should be able to repair them, and make them look as good as new..
Remember, original kits didn't fit very well in certain area's. There was 4 or 5 different manufacturers of the kits back in 88, some parts fit better than others.
obviously its going to be hard to find a genuine walkie kit,
so does anyone know of a decent aftermarket kit?
if you had to replace a part on your genuine walkie, what would you use?
looking to get my kit in the next month or so, but dont want to get stung with a cheap mould.

I would wait until I found an original part for the kit....
I pretty much have a complete spare walky kit, which I bought for that reason.. Something happens to a part on my car, I'll use it.
Keep an eye out on ebay... buy the parts seperatley, and you can get the whole kit for about $1500-$2000 or so, but it may take a while!

Check with HSV or a dealer as I spoke to a rep from AMCAP here in WA a year ago about the front lower lip and he said that you could still get an original, will take a while and will cost over $800
Not sure if this is fact or fiction but worth a try.

Ray, I think they just get Fibremaster in NSW to make one up, and then re-sell it. I could be wrong, but that's what I have heard.
