Hi,

I recently purchased #733 and it's located in New Zealand. It's done 102,000 Km's and in reasonably good condition, however i've decided to completely restore it to as near as new as possible.

At the moment it's getting a new clutch and the Bilstein's that are presently installed rebuilt. I'm also getting better discs and pads installed but will be retaining the originals as well.

Does anyone have any tips on getting a full re-paint completed? When I do this I am planning on replacing all rubbers and plastics on the exterior of the car including tail lights, rear light surrounds and front indicators so that it looks as close to new as possible.

Unfortunately I have no history with the car and would really appreciate any information that anyone may have regarding #733?

Thanks,

Congrads on your new purchase. Was this the one for sale on trademe recently?

Yeah it was on Trade Me. I purchased it in July.

A guy in Dunedin had it advertised at 80K, then down to 65K and then 60K. I offered him 50K and we agreed on 51K. Already spent about 4K on it though and the full re-paint looks to be about 12.

Should look good though when it's finsihed.

I'm trying to track down any history on it if you know of anything?

That's a very good price for that car. A year ago that car would have sold for close to $80k

Sorry don't know anything about it, and as said it isn't listed on the sites build numbers list. Maybe try contacting HSV in OZ and ask them if they can tell you anything about the car, where it was sold new, what options (if any) etc??

Good luck with HSV... they generally don't know much about walkies at all...

I rang the dealer in January this year when i was looking for one and asked about the car.He emailed me back and said
"I have spoken with the owner who has
known the history of this car since 1992 and he said as far as he is aware
the car has never been involved in a major accident and all the body panels
are the originals. Warren (the owner) is a qualified auto refinisher so he
is an expert in this field. He said the car has had minor paint touch up over the years for the odd
scratch or two. The bonnet does have a handful of stone chips. Six months
ago he replaced the left front head light due to it being smashed by a
stone. It has just had the windscreen replaced due to a major stone chip.

The engine is in excellent condition and retains the original engine block.
Unfortunately we do not know whether the radio is the original. If not from
new it certainly has been with the car for a very long time.

The only blemish on the interior is the small rub on the leading edge of the
driver seat which hopefully you can see in the photo attached.

The car is in its original condition and to the best of our knowledge there
is nothing missing."

I let it go cause he was asking over $80k at the time and i bought mine for around the same money with half the klms.

For $51k i reckon you got a bargain.

Wow, that's pretty cool! Maybe you should ask the dealer to get the original owner to call you if he wants? Would be cool to talk to him!

When I bought it the dealer wasn't interested in talking so I dealt directly with the owner (Warren). The paint is a little worse than in the e-mail from the dealer when you look close, and it has had a repair before on the right read guard, but overall pretty good (according to my painter). The interior is quite good, just needs a clean.

Warren only owned the car for about 12 months and did just over 200Km's in it. I'll track down the previous owner as he had it for about 10-12 years I think and see if he has any history and possibly the owners manuals.

Does anyone know where to get the Walky owners manual if I have no liuck with the old owners?

Cheers,

You can't get them... they pop up on ebay from time to time, but go for $500-$1000
