View Full Version : Sydney Spray and Panel Shop for Walky
Hey there,
Ok I have finally managed to repair the inperfections and fibreglass bodykit damage on my Walkinshaw. I am looking to suggestions for a good spray and panel shop to complete a respray of the entire Walkinshaw. I do not unfortunately have a big budget for a spray job as I have just purchased my first home so was hoping if anyone could recommend a shop or person to help out in Sydney.
Thanks again guys!

How badly does it need a new paintjob? I wouldn't paint any car (especially a Walky) unless I had at least $6k to spend
i have done the engine bay... basically rest of car needs a good flow coat.
Thanks for your reply
Thank you for ur reply.
I undertsand what you are saying however I have managed to paint the engine bqy already. So the car only needs a flow coat on the outside to make it look really presentable again.
Cheers.

The problem with walkys are the entire kit really needs to come off, so I guess if you can do that yourself then you'll save a bit of cash
Ye thats fine i can do that myself. Just looking for someone who can spray all of it and the car for me.
I recently had aquote in NZ of $11,000 including taking the whole kit off and painting it all seperately and re-doing all the black on the door frames etc. Hope this helps.

My advice is , Don`t always go for the cheapest quote.
It might be cheap today, but it may be dear in the long run.
Always have a look a previous work that has recently been completed by the spraypainter and this will give you an idea of the quality of their work.

wow petro
you painted the engine bay???
Any car enthusiest knows never paint the engine bay no matter how bad it is
your car might not have lost value yet but in 5-10 years it will be worth half as much
as one that has not been painted
so my tip to you is paint the rest of the car sell for the most you can get then buy
a new one that hasnt been and dont need paint anywhere..
that is if it is if yours is genuine and you are keeping for its value!!

Thats not really correct... you can paint an engine bay, but keeping it within the factory look, as in not smoothing or moving anything is fine....

These cars are 20 years old and some haven't been kept in bubble rap their entire life so it's fair to say that most will be in need of a tidy up soon

Hi All. New to the site....so g'day. Having just had my car resprayed, (unfortunately a replica - BT1 5.0L) I have had a crash course in panel beater and resto education. Having been without the car for 4 months due to having to get the car sprayed twice by the panel beater, I can vouch for doing some good research before parting with your hard earned cash. Having been an avid car mag reader, I would suggest Queen Street Smash at Reevsby. I think they have just moved but they are still in Reevsby. I called the Owner Mohomad for some advice when my first spray job went pear shaped. He seemd genuinely proud of the work they put out ( he should be, I know they have a good reputation). I ended up paying nine large for my full respray, and I am still not really satisfied. In hindsight I would have had the car sent to Sydney to get the job done. A Queen St job will still be around the 9k, but you will have a smile on your face i'm sure.
