Hey Guys,
About a year ago I made the decision to add to my collection of toys a vehicle that I admired since witnessing its debut at Bathurst. As classic vehicle prices were at high, I realised that it may be difficult to purchase one. It wasnt long however before I came a cross a police numbered Walkinshaw which had been stolen and recovered now missing all tags and decided to bite the bullet and purchase.
The vehicle required TLC as it had been neglected by its previous owner and not appreciate as you would imagine and so my story begins. The first point of attention was the driveline. The original motor was taken out and stripped down for some much needed treatment. This ended with a complete rebuild of motor and $11,500 later the motor was basically as new. The engine builder was so fussy that he had all electrical components of the motor replaced. Next came tuning time. I had heard of all these aftermarket systems eg. Motec, Haltech etc however decided to stay with the original and trusty Delco ECU which was tuned remapped and chipped by a Walkinshaw backed performance shop. I had the engine Bay bought back up to its former glory to match the new engine that was dropped in. Suspension was overhauled including new steering rack, new rubbers and nolathane bushes all over. Brakes where also attentioned with disc machning, line cleaning and new discs all over.
With all the driveline done I now looked at the cosmetics. I had intentions to repair and replace some bodykit parts and completely respray the vehicle. Instead I managed to hunt down and purchase a complete original Bodykit for the vehicle. However, this is where my story turns sour....... due to mortgage demands and an upcoming marriage I will need to let this car and my other go.
Its a sad day for me and apologies for the ranting on, however I though it would be nice to share the vehicle with you all before it parts my garage and give everyone a heads up to be on the lookout for the 'For Sale' advertisement soon to come.
I have attached a few pics of the vehicle for interest.
Cheers,
Petro
