that walkinshaw was the in a magazine a while back with todd kelly driving it around a race track and comparing it to a new hsv. the new hsv was 10 seconds a lap quicker. lol

20 years of technology, 3 x the price, it would want to be 10 secs quicker!

Correct me if I am wrong:
I think this walkinshaw is owned by HSV? Not Tom directly? Yes I know he owns (or TWR) owns HSV, but there is a bit of a difference between a car that a company, of a company that he owns or has shares in owning the car, and Tom owning it personally.
And there is nothing really special about this walky to make it any different to any walky owned by anyone on here really. It's got pretty high kms.
I wouldn't be calling it "THE WALKINSHAW". I think #001 has that title personally.
So how did you come to drive it? Do you work for HSV?

Price is probably not too far off if you take inflation into the equation, but yeah 20 years of development it should be a lot quicker

I thought Holden bought HSV off Tom when he went bankrupt a few years back?

I was basing the 3 x price on the price when new... walkys were about $45k, and the W427 was about $150k?????

Possibly, I'm not sure??? Or am I getting confused with TWR buyinf HRT back from Skaife?

I story I heard is HSV got sold to Holden and HRT was sold to Skaife. I know Skaife doesn't own HRT anymore, but I think Holden still owns HSV
I understand that Tom Walkinshaw does personally own an early car and it is and has always been based in the UK since new...

yer i do work for HSV mate the drives are there a fair bit but Tom Walkinshaw only comes in a few times a year
and yer i think he does have one in the uk as well i know one of the W427 is over there now too
and i think Tom walkinshaw now has HSV back but im not in the office i help build the car so i cant say 100%
the car it lives at HSV but a few years ago before the pirces when up Tom was tring to sell the car
and as for driving it was just luck
TWR went belly up but HSV was owned via the Walkinshaw family companies and retained ownership of HSV (think the companies name is Premoso) as they were not affected by the TWR collapse.
Tom had an SV5000 as his personal car in the UK but judging on its present condition i doubt it would belong to him anymore.

I had someone email me about a year ago saying they owned that sv5000 in the UK and wanted to sell it.. I think they wanted $10,000AUS for it, which by the time you ship it over, wouldn't be worth it. I see if I can dig up the email and pics.

hey calaiswalky, it's awesome you got to drive your dream car. What did you think? did it live up to your expectations? Having owned mine for 4ish years I sometimes take it for granted and forget how lucky I am to have one. I had some roof insulation installed the other day and the bloke couldn't stop staring at it and talking about how he's always wanted one, so if you really want one, get one and let the bank sort out the details. Maybe HSV will sell you theirs... Is HSV a sweet gig or is it just like every other shitty job? Don't suppose you've taken a W427 for a fang?

No I didn`t make it to the open day , last Sunday week, but I have been there a few times previously.
I am a HSV Frequent Buyer and was asked to come and preview the New E2 Model ,the week before........Cheers John
This car (build #555) wasnt a UK car at all. #555 was owned by a HSV employee at that factory a few years back and HSV directly bought the car from him (at a very reasonable price). This car was then restored by HSV (new paint, interior etc).
I was told all this when I toured the HSV plant way back when I owned #001.
