can any one help me i am currently looking at an apparently original walkinshaw that is missing the hsv build tag is there any other way to confirm that it is genuine? and also what would this car be worth roughly?

Is it missing both the firewall build plate and the glovebox badge?

If you ring HSV, and have the engine and J number, then they can verify if the numbers match.

What is the build # and what is the engine prefix? Walkys are all VP engine prefixes.

There other ways to tell. I am currently making a page for this.

As for worth, it's hard to say. How many KM's, condition? Twin throttles? etc

it has the glovebox tag only missing the one in the engine bay. it's done about 180,000 ks got the twin throttle bodies and i wouldnt say it was immaculate but it is in pretty good condition unsure what build number it said but i will post it when i find out more thanks. I was just concerned that the glovebox tag may have been sourced from a wrecked one

Check the suspension if you can. Original suspension should have Yellow Bilstein shocks. Also check if the front & rear guards have been lipped. Its not the neatest of roll-jobs (even from factory), just run your finger along the inner-edge of the guards and you'll be able to tell if they've been done or not. Like ILLUSIV said, if you've got the J number & engine number, ring HSV and they can verify.
Also, if the heads are the genuine ones, they should be stamped PH9, but it may be difficult to see just by staring at the engine bay!

I wouldn't be so sure. A copy of Craigs glovebox tag showed up on ebay about 6 months ago

Yes it did. I'll post the pic up of the fake one soon. Im working on the "things to look for in a real walky" page, and that sort of thing will be in it.
